BURLINGTON, Mass., September 15, 2026 — Findability Sciences, a global AI solutions provider dedicated to improving efficiency and profitability for enterprises and critical industries, today announced that LactaAI™, its artificial intelligence platform for dairy processing, is now commercially available. LactaAI™ helps plants identify developing yield loss, understand what is causing production to drift, and act while the problem can still be corrected.
Dairy plants collect vast amounts of information across milk intake, processing, quality, utilities and business systems. The problem is rarely a lack of data. The answers to inefficiencies are spread across different systems and hundreds of signals. A single alarm may show that something has changed, but it does not explain how the signals connect or what the team should do next. By the time the team connects the signals and identifies the cause, the loss may already be affecting yield and margin.
The scale of U.S. dairy processing makes that delay expensive. The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that the country produced 231.7 billion pounds of milk in 2025. At that volume, even a modest improvement in recovery can create meaningful value. For example, for every 100 million pounds of annual finished product volume, a 1% to 2% increase in recovery can represent roughly 1 million to 2 million additional pounds of saleable product. Depending on the product, that could represent $1 million to more than $5 million in additional annual product value. This is an illustration, not a customer result or guarantee. Actual value depends on the plant, product mix, starting performance, pricing, and the changes implemented.
“Dairy plants have never lacked signals. The challenge is catching and understanding them early enough for the response to matter,” said Anand Mahurkar, Founder and CEO of Findability Sciences. “LactaAI™ connects what is happening across the line and helps the team act before a small shift becomes lost product. That is the difference between finding a problem in yesterday’s report and protecting margin while the line is still running.”
Connecting the Plant's Data
LactaAI™ connects information from the plant floor, laboratory and enterprise systems. It works with existing PLC, SCADA, ERP and LIMS environments, so processors do not need to replace their current infrastructure or add sensors simply to get started. Customers retain ownership of their process data. The main operational product within LactaAI is LactaInsight™, which gives plant teams a live view from reception to packaging, learns how a line behaves when it is running well, and spots changes across related signals. Instead of presenting a pile of separate alarms, it brings the signals into one event and explains the likely cause, the possible impact and the recommended response in plain language.
LactaInsight™ follows six connected steps: Detect, Explain, Diagnose, Recommend, Act and Measure. Each recommendation includes the reasoning behind it and can include a confidence score and projected effect. The operator decides whether to act, and every decision is recorded for review and audit.
The platform currently supports butter, milk powder, milk protein concentrate and whey lines. It can also be configured for cheese and other dairy processes. A processor can start with one priority line and extend the platform to other processes without rebuilding the core system each time; Findability Sciences generally targets approximately eight weeks from kickoff to operation for the first production line.
LactaAI™ also includes Lacta BPC™, which supports documentation, enterprise knowledge and business workflows through a conversational interface. LactaInsight™ remains the focus of the launch and the product built for live plant operations.
What This Could Mean for Dairy Plants
Across dairy manufacturing, artificial intelligence used for process optimization has been associated with faster root-cause investigations, lower solids loss, fewer quality deviations, and reduced energy use. Industry benchmarks and engineering estimates indicate potential improvements of 70% to 90% in investigation time, 3% to 4% in avoidable solids loss, 20% to 40% in quality deviations, and 5% to 8% in steam and energy consumption, depending on the plant. These figures are modeled estimates built on published industry benchmarks and engineering analysis, not results from a completed commercial deployment, and results will differ from one plant to another depending on its processes, data quality, and starting point.
Availability
LactaAI™ is now commercially available and is already being evaluated by a major U.S. dairy processor. Dairy processors can request a free 30-minute Dairy AI readiness assessment to identify where their existing data may reveal opportunities to protect yield, improve production stability, and reduce operating costs. LactaAI™ and LactaInsight™ FAQ
What is LactaAI, and how does LactaInsight fit in?
LactaAI is Findability Sciences platform for dairy processing. It connects data from plant, laboratory, and enterprise systems. LactaInsight is the main operational product within LactaAI and gives teams a live, connected view from reception to packaging. Lacta BPC supports documentation, enterprise knowledge, and business workflows.
What is LactaInsight? LactaInsight monitors how a dairy plant is running throughout the day. It brings together data from existing systems, catches problems as they develop, identifies the likely cause, and recommends a response. The operating team always makes the final decision.
How does it help reduce yield loss? Many losses begin quietly, before any one alarm can tell the whole story. LactaInsight watches related signals together, shows what product may be at risk, and recommends a correction while the issue can still be addressed.
Which dairy lines does it support? LactaInsight currently supports butter, milk powder, milk protein concentrate, and whey lines. It can be configured for cheese and other dairy processes based on the equipment, data, and operating requirements of the line.
What data does it need, and how long does implementation take?
LactaInsight is designed to work with existing plant and laboratory systems — process historian data, lab and quality results, and maintenance and downtime history — subject to data availability and quality. A plant does not need to install new sensors or replace its current infrastructure simply to begin. For the first production line, implementation normally takes approximately eight weeks from kickoff to operation, with additional lines added after that.
How does it find the root cause?
Instead of checking sensors one at a time, LactaInsight looks at what is happening around a problem across the process. It connects the probable cause, what it affected and the recommended next step in one investigation.
Does LactaAI change plant settings on its own?
No. LactaInsight recommends actions and can show the rationale, confidence score, and projected effect. Plant operators decide whether to act, and every decision is recorded for audit.
